Price Benchmarks
Cost benchmarks allow for the comparison of two different things using a common unit of analysis. Benchmarking results in social impact has been notoriously difficult. Historically, social programs have only been compared based on their overhead expenses or financials, not their impact.
The cost of impact benchmarks below are generated from verified program data (>5.5K programs) and tax data from the United States Internal Revenue Service and Canada Revenue Agency (>2.2M programs) in the Impact Genome Registry (IGR).
Verified program data is submitted by Impact Producers to IGR and verified by an Impact Genome Associate. As part of the verification process, Impact Producers input a primary outcome that best represents their program, the number of beneficiaries that have achieved that outcome, and the cost of delivering that program.
Tax data is also machine coded to extract the intended outcome, outcomes achieved, and program cost for organizations.
With that information, Impact Genome can generate an estimated Cost-per-Outcome from which the benchmarks are derived.
Program Cost-per-Outcome = Program Budget / Outcomes Achieved
The program Cost-per-Outcomes are aggregated for each outcome and are weighted according to the reliability of the input data. The weighted average of the programs in the Registry is displayed below and updated monthly.
